1. Respect.
The primary goal of our rules is to promote respect for all of our members, regardless of age, skill level or forum rank. Please refrain from doing anything which may disrespect or offend another member.
2. Friendliness
All posts must be friendly in tone. We want everyone to feel welcome here, and a friendly tone will certainly help make that goal a reality. Please try to ensure that your posts appear friendly; it's easy to misinterpret tone on the internet, so err on the side of over-friendliness!
3. Good Netiquette
As a forum user, we expect you to follow the generally accepted rules of good netiquette. Some of these rules are:
- No posting advertisements to other sites
- No posting the same message multiple times
- Do not make random posts that are irrelevant to the current direction of the thread.
- Do not make a post that stretches out the page
Posts that don't follow these guidelines will either be deleted or edited to bring them into compliance. Repeated offenses of this rule will result in a user ban.
4. Controversial Topics
Please do not create topics that can provoke others, and also refrain from turning topics into controversial ones. Political and religious discussions will be locked or deleted as necessary. Any other types of controversial discussion will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by an administrator.
5. Arguments and Flame Wars
Any threads that become overly heated and/or emotional will be locked. Please refrain from starting threads that may devolve into such arguments.
6. Inappropriate Posts
This is the list of inappropriate content:
* Threats
* Personal insults
* Sexual content
* Racist content
* Violent content
* Illegal content (including discussion of software piracy)
* Swear words/curse words (anything more vulgar than "damn" or "hell" will be removed. (This does not include abbreviations.)
All inappropriate content will be removed and privately logged. Repeated posting of inappropriate content will result in a user ban
7. Link Guidelines
External links are permitted, but there are restrictions. You CANNOT post links to:
* Sites that are of an inappropriate or adult nature. The rules for Inappropriate Links are the same as the rules for Inappropriate Posts (see Rule #6)
8. Image Guidelines
Embedding images is possible on this site. The images CANNOT be:
* Inappropriate or of an "adult" nature
9. Ban Evasion
Do not try to avoid a ban. Any user found to be avoiding a ban will be permanently banned by IP and any accounts that user has made will be deactivated.
10. Reporting Rule Infractions
If you notice something that needs a moderator’s attention, please send a PM to a moderator, preferably one that’s online. Commenting about it on the forum only adds to the problem. If you feel that any of our moderators have acted improperly, please report it to an administrator.
11. Malicious Content
This is a list of malicious content:
* Websites that take control away from the user, or that do not allow the user to leave unhindered
* Websites that host or install software without the consent of the user
* Websites that host or install malicious software (including viruses and trojans)
* Websites or software that fall under rule #6 above
* Software that takes control away from the user, or does not allow the user to exit unhindered
* Software that performs actions without the consent of the user
* Malicious software (including viruses and trojans)
* Software that aids malicious software in installation or in operation
* Illegal software
* Websites that trick the user into going to another website or downloading software that is covered in the above bullet points
Any links to malicious content and instructions on how to create or obtain malicious content will be removed and privately logged, and may result in a ban.
12. User accounts
Users are required to manage their account in a responsible manner. You should NEVER reveal your password to ANYBODY, and any user found posting on another users account will face disciplinary action. Furthermore, any user found to be using "impostor" accounts (an account deliberately created to mimic a current user) will face an immediate IP ban and will no longer be able to post on the forums.
Rules will be subject to change with an annoucement with the rule change. Punishable behavior is not limited to the list above.
